Jerry’s Toyota received it’s first 2023 completely remodeled Toyota Prius this last Friday. We couldn’t be more excited to get our first look into the Hybrid Reborn. Let’s jump into it!
At first glance of the Prius, my first thoughts are space shuttles. The Prius provides a sleek and sharp exterior with all corners that are extremely smooth and stunning from every angle. Adding that this vehicle is a Hybrid, you will feel like you stepped into your very own space shuttle ready for lift off in the smooth ride it provides. The first Prius we received arrived in the Reservoir Blue exterior color, 19-in. alloy wheels with the Limited All-Wheel Drive trim options. The Toyota Prius Limited All-Wheel Drive comes with a 2.0L 4-Cyl. Gas/Electric Hybrid with EV/ECO/POWER modes to select from. The All-Wheel Drive is provided as an Electronic On-Demand system ready for you when needed. Another exterior feature I took big notice of was the relocation of the Rear Passenger Door Handles and the panoramic moon roof. The door handles are located near the quarter panel rear window similar to the Toyota C-HR models. The panoramic moon roof is a fixed glass roof that provides an amazing view of the sky above. Adding to the space shuttle feeling to see the stars on your moon roof fully! While taking the Prius on its first test drive, the biggest feature I would like to point out in this review is the absolute silence and power in the Prius while driving. I was amazed at how quiet and smooth the drive was with the Prius. With capabilities of 0-60 mph in 7.2 seconds, you will have no problem getting up to speed in any situation. Let’s get into the interior features we got to experience!
Compared to the previous model Prius, there is an ample amount of space added into the cargo and passenger areas in this remodel. With the 60/40 split fold-down rear seats, it just creates even more cargo space for whatever adventures you have planned. Two of the biggest changes I took away in my test drive of the remodeled Prius are the relocated and completely renovated gear shift and the Top-Mount Multi-Information Display. With most vehicles, the Multi-Information Display usually sits behind the steering wheel for view in between but you will have a clear view of everything needed on the display, on top of your steering wheel instead. Much easier to keep your eyes on the road as if you had a heads-up display. Toyota also has the Audio Multimedia available in the 12.3-inch size which is much larger than previous multimedia displays. Extremely friendly to the driver’s experience with the Drive Connect and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto options for your hands-free needs! Leave the cables at home as the Prius is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a snug fit Qi Wireless Charging conveniently placed beside the gear shift. If you would prefer to have your charging cable handy, there are 6 USB-c USB Ports throughout the vehicle for a variety of devices. My two favorite add-ons to the Toyota Prius are the Advanced Park and the Direct Light Illumination. With technology nowadays, it completely amazes me how the available advanced park feature uses cameras and sensors to assist in parallel parking or backing into your parking space. With the Direct Light Illumination, you can link the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) and receive a responsive glow across the dashboard to visually alert you of the notifications of the road ahead.
Our number one priority with our Toyota vehicles is Safety. I would love to touch on the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and available additional safety features you can add.
-Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection alerts you when a vehicle or person has come into view and you are not aware. The vehicle will provide a sound and visual warning to make you aware and if you do not react, the vehicle is designed to automatically start emergency braking.
-Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control uses a vehicle-to-vehicle distance control at speeds above 20 mph and helps maintain a safe driving distance at all times. No more resetting the cruise after hitting the brakes if you got too close to the vehicle in front of you!
-Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist provides assistance to maintain within the provided lanes and if you do not correct yourself back into your lane, the vehicle is designed to gently correct your steering.
-Lane Tracing Assist uses the lines on the road or vehicles around you to create active drive assistance to keep your vehicle in the center of the lane.
-Road Sign Assist provides speed limit signs, stop signs, do not enter signs, and yield signs to your Multi-Information Display.
-Automatic High Beams are designed to automatically illuminate the road above 21 mph and will change between high and low beams when it detects a vehicle and taillights are preceding.
-Proactive Driving Assist provides gentle braking into curves and/or steering to help support driving in distance controls between your vehicle and other vehicles.
Additional safety features that are available for your Prius are Blind-Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Integrated Back-Up Camera, and Safe Exit Assist.
Overall, I felt this was an amazing upgrade to an already amazing car that assists with Toyota’s efforts to a greener future! The drive was great, and control and stability were pure successes.
