The all-new 2021 Toyota Highlander has finally arrived at our Baltimore, Maryland Toyota dealership! This marks the beginning of the model’s 4th generation, the first complete redesign since the 2013 model year! Powertrain options have been refined down to one – a 3.5 liter V6 with 295 horsepower, and capable of up to 24 mpg combined. A hybrid 4-cylinder variant makes its debut in February. Just like previous iterations, the 2021 Highlander is available in both Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD). The price premium is $1600 to have power sent to all four wheels. All 2021 Toyota Highlanders come equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, featuring pre-collision detection with lane departure alert, lane tracing assist, automatic high beams, full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, road sign assist and cyclist detection. That’s right, all of the latest safety technology comes standard on even the most inexpensive Highlander! Toyota is intent on all of its vehicles living up to its lofty safety standards. Apple Carplay, Amazon Alexa, and Android Auto are also now included with every Highlander, ensuring you’ll always be entertained on long trips. Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s break down what sets each Highlander trim apart!
L – MSRP $34,910
There’s nothing “basic” about the most inexpensive 2021 Highlander trim. Available in both FWD and AWD, the 2021 Toyota Highlander L comes equipped with all of the features previously stated. On top of that, keyless entry with push button start is now standard, as well as LED headlights and taillights. Three-zone automatic climate control and 5 USB ports enhance the comfort inside the cabin.
LE – MSRP $37,110
Step up to the LE trim for an extra $2200, and you’ll be rewarded with enhanced safety features, including a blind spot monitor and rear cross traffic alert. There’s also a new height-adjustable power lift gate, and well as LED fog lights. Inside, the steering wheel and shift knob are wrapped in leather.
XLE – MSRP $39,910
The 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE comes loaded with premium features, inside and out! 18’’ machined-finish alloy wheels make a statement outside, while Softex trimmed seating surfaces are the most obvious upgrade inside. They’re even heated and fully-powered for the driver and passenger. A Qi wireless phone charging station is present in the front console, while a moon roof lets light shine into the cabin from above.
XSE – MSRP $41,505
The sportiest model in the Highlander lineup, the 2021 Highlander XSE features unique front fascia, 20 in. wheels and twin tip exhaust to stand out from the pack.
Limited – MSRP $43,865
The 2021 Toyota Highlander Limited expands on the luxuries found in the XLE model. Outside, the wheels are now 20”, and LED daytime running lights further enhance the exclusivity of the trim. Inside, the seats are now leather, with the front seats now ventilated as well as heated. A JBL premium audio system completes the package.
Platinum – MSRP $47,065
The ultimate 2021 Toyota Highlander. The 2021 Highlander Platinum is loaded with every feature available on the 2021 Highlander. A best-in-class 12.3 inch touch screen infotainment display adorns the dash, in addition to displaying GPS navigation and entertainment information, it also serves as the monitor for the Bird’s Eye View parking camera. The rearview mirror is also digital, with a live feed of your surroundings constantly displayed. Second row captain’s chairs are the only option for rear passengers, both of which are heated. The 2nd row bench option is omitted from this trim level. A panoramic sliding moon roof completes the package, bathing the entire cabin in light.
